Pan do Mar

Pan do Mar Bread of the Sea

The Pérez Lafuente family and the people behind Pan do Mar have dedicated themselves to the seafood industry for over 100 years. During all these years, their obsession with quality has been coupled with their growing concern about the preservation and protection of our fisheries, marine wildlife and environment.

The Pan do Mar fishery is situated in a coastal village on the Atlantic coast of Galicia, in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula. This area is blessed with an abundance of fish and shellfish, enabling fishing to be conducted in a sustainable manner and the fish supplied to be absolutely fresh and of optimum quality.

The Perez Lafuente family  believes that the commitment to sustainable fishing is more important now than ever and for that reason they continue in their endeavours to preserve and protect our seas for future generations and give us the opportunity to enjoy tinned fish at its best.

Sustainability Criteria

All Pan do Mar products are caught using sustainable fishing methods. Strict guidelines are followed and are based on the following basic principles:

  • Fishing is done with inshore crafts or coastal fishing. This is typical of the local communities and respects their deep-rooted family traditions of fishing and seamanship.

  • The fishing methods and equipment used are non destructive and include methods such as pole and line fishing

  • The volume of each catch, their size and the tackle used are regulated and inspected by the relevant official bodies

  • The entire fishing and production chain is fully traceable and certified.

These same principals are applied to the selection of the land ingredients used; extra virgin olive oils, vegetables, spices, vinegar and wines for the sauces are all drawn from Spanish organic and sustainable agriculture.
