Eat to your health

It is well known that tinned fish is a healthy source of protein with all essential amino acids. Oily fish are rich in Omega 3 - fatty acids - with a high concentration of vitamins E, B1, B2, B12, A, D and Niacin as well as being a good source for many important minerals, such as phosphorus, fluoride, calcium, potassium and magnesium.

Organic Cold Pressed Oils

Cold pressed oils are produced using traditional methods, which retain the oil's nutritional value and flavour. Cold pressed sunflower oil is rich in linoleic acid and vitamin E, while olive oil is rich in mono-unsaturated fats and helps reguate cholesterol levels.

Industrial oils are chemically treated and heated to high temperatures, which converts good fats to harmful trans-fats and destroys much of the great natural flavour.

Mercury in Fish

Mercury occurs and accumulates naturally in the environment and in the aquatic food chain.

The good news though is the level of mercury in most fish is very low and while we appreciate that some people are concerned with the amount of mercury in their diet, based on independent testing we are happy to report that Fish 4 Ever's mercury levels are in most cases 10 times below the limits set by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Food Agricultural Organisation (FAO) Codex of 1mg / kg.

Testing for Mercury, Dioxins and Histamine

First Ray regularaly has independent testing done in Australia for Histamine levels and also Mercury testing. Our results are well below what is considered safe.

Australia's leading health research body, the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), suggests that Australians should eat more fish. This is because fish is low in fat, high in protein and an excellent source of Omega 3 fatty acids. Researchers worldwide have discovered that eating fish regularly - one or two serves weekly - may reduce the risk of diseases ranging from childhood asthma to prostate cancer.
